 2023 Preview 


       Red Bay completed the 2022 season with a 6-5 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 2A region eight, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Red Bay's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Fyffe by a score of 55-8.

       Since 2010, Red Bay has gone a combined 102-44. Their 69.9% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class 2A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Red Bay has finished a combined 198-88. Their 69.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 2A and 46th in the AHSAA.




       The Tigers are led by head coach Heath Childers who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 8-12 over the past two seasons at Red Bay. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Childers. Over the course of his career, Coach Childers' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times .

       The Tigers have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region eight this season.

       The Tigers open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Hamilton on Friday, August 25 at Joe Sargent Stadium. Last year the Hamilton Aggies finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 4A region five. The Aggies closed out the regular season with a loss to Fayette County by a score of 28-8.

       Red Bay and Hamilton have met a total of 21 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 3-18-0 record against the Aggies. They last met in 2022 with Red Bay winning by a score of 22-20.

       Red Bay lost 2A All-State  running back Brady Hardin to graduation. He was named to the first team last season.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Parrish scored a record 77 points in a playoff game against Cedar Bluff in 2001. The Tornados were shutout the following week 19-0 by Courtland.
